News from the Barbreck Library

At the start of the new school year the girls’ eyes glistened as they walked past the Barbreck Library shelving display showcasing all the shiny new books and series available for borrowing this year.

Many of them wanting to borrow before the school day commences or during their lunchtime break – a sign of their appetite and passion for reading.

We have three Library Captains in Barbreck in 2023. Summer Pui, Junya Jiang and Margaret Shao have all started their captaincies strong with weekly lunchtime duties, providing library updates at Barbreck Assembly and meeting about future ideas and activities for the Library.

During Term 1, our first author visit was from historical fiction writer Anna Ciddor. Anna led a workshop with our Year 6 students on finding ideas and inspiration for writing her adventure stories. After some guided thought and planning from Anna many of the girls were motivated to write their next masterpiece.

We have had a wonderful start to the year in the Barbreck Library. Our enthusiastic Barbreck borrowers are reminded to bring their library bag for their Library session so we can keep our books in excellent condition for everyone to enjoy.
