News from Year 10
This semester has already been a busy and exciting one for our Year 10 Cohort. Many of us cannot believe we are already over halfway through term.
Our students have been spending much of this term preparing and planning their subject selections for next year and learning how their choices heading into VCE will help shape their future pathways. As we continue this semester I hope students will keep using feedback from their teachers and our upcoming Parent Teacher Student Conferences to prepare themselves for a great start to their VCE.
As emerging leaders in our School, many of our girls are busy undertaking elements for their St Catherine’s Leadership Diploma. Along with active participation in our School programs, community service, and various clubs and co-curricular activities at St Catherine’s, many of the girls have been involved in organising charitable events and fundraisers for several worthy causes. Some of our students have offered to share the projects they have been working on this year.

In Week 8, Amity, Emma, Camille, Jess, Poppy, Sof, Violetta, and I will be running a House Basketball Competition and bake sale for Cystic Fibrosis Together. I have Cystic Fibrosis, and although it is one of the most serious and common chronic illnesses in Australia, hardly anyone knows what it is. I hope to change that.
CF Together is an awesome organisation, that focuses on spreading awareness and helping people affected by CF in any way they can. Whether it be funding education, or providing nebulisers and treatments, CF Together has always been so helpful and supportive to me and my family. We are all getting really excited for this event and will be presenting it to the School in assembly on Monday!

On Wednesday 4 September, Isabelle Peter, Lucy Kennedy, and I will be holding an event to raise funds for the Zoe Kennedy Foundation. This Foundation was established to honour the memory of Zoe Kennedy, whose young life was tragically cut short due to severe asthma. The Foundation’s mission is to better understand severe asthma, especially in children and teenagers, with the aim of developing improved treatment options, prevention strategies, and ultimately, finding a cure.
We have chosen to support this cause as we believe it is important to bring awareness of the danger of asthma. The cause is also very close to our hearts as Zoe was Lucy’s cousin. In honour of Zoe’s passion for netball, we’ve organised a netball shooting competition. For a small entry fee, participants can choose from several different goal shots, with successful attempts earning a variety of prizes, including raffle tickets and cupcakes. In addition to the competition, we’ll also have a bake sale and a raffle throughout the day. All prizes for the raffle have been generously donated. We hope you join us in supporting this worthy cause!
