GSV Athletics Carnival 2024

On Wednesday, our Years 5 and 6 students participated in the GSV Athletics Carnival at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park.

The Carnival was a day filled with excitement, energy, and fantastic athletic performances. From fast running to long jumps and powerful throws, our students gave their all and made St Catherine’s proud.

This event marked the first major competition for our Years 5 and 6 students this term. It served as excellent preparation for the upcoming Armadale District Athletics on 4 September. The dedication and effort were on full display from all students.

A special thanks goes to our Head of Athletics, Mr Tom O’Connor, whose guidance, and support have been instrumental in the students’ success. Tom has been working tirelessly, helping the girls train every Tuesday morning throughout Term 2 and Term 3, ensuring they were well-prepared and confident.

We also witnessed standout performances in the relay events, with all our teams showcasing incredible teamwork and determination. It was wonderful to see so many students stepping out of their comfort zones, trying new events, and giving their best. This spirit of participation and willingness to have a go is what the GSV Athletics Carnival is all about.

It was also fantastic to see so many parents come out to support their daughters. Their presence and encouragement added to the day’s positive atmosphere and made it even more special for our students.

Overall, it was a fantastic day, and we are already looking forward to the next event. Well done to all the girls who participated!
