Finding Rhythm, Building Community

The past couple of weeks have been busy as the girls have settled into their new routines and schedules. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the different parts of the school and watching the inner workings of St Catherine’s. I see continued evidence of a really great school.

During my classroom visits, I had the opportunity to gather valuable feedback from the girls about what they enjoy most about school and areas where they think we could make improvements. Common themes emerged from their responses, such as their love for spending time with friends, the support and care from teachers, the wide range of co-curricular opportunities, and the playground, just to name a few. While some suggestions were more suitable for a theme park, (a waterslide was a particularly popular request!), the feedback provides us with insight into what makes St. Catherine’s special and highlights areas where we can grow. This input empowers the girls to have a say in shaping the future of our school and ensures that we continue to provide a nurturing and engaging environment for them.

In the last two weeks, I have had the pleasure of attending the musical recitals after school, which have been a real highlight. The talent displayed by our Junior and Senior students was nothing short of extraordinary. Their performances were of such a high standard that I suspect these girls would fill the Melbourne Recital Centre comfortably! It was an absolute joy to watch, and I look forward to seeing more performances in the future.

Additionally, this Thursday marked the first round of our parent-teacher interviews for the year. These conversations are an essential part of fostering strong partnerships between home and school. The feedback from parents was very positive, citing how informative the interviews were for them. If you were unable to attend, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s class teacher. Should you require more time to discuss your child’s progress, teachers are always happy to schedule another meeting.
