Barbreck News: Term 3 Review
It seems like only yesterday we bid farewell to our Year 6 girls as they embarked on their exciting journey to Canberra for their Study Tour at the start of Term 3. Now, we find ourselves at the end of this busy and rewarding term.
This term has been nothing short of exhilarating, with our girls actively participating in an array of activities that has enriched their educational experiences. From academics to co-curriculars, Barbreck students have truly excelled.
Exploring Diverse Career Paths
Our two Careers Days for Years 5 and 6 students were a resounding success. The girls had the privilege of gaining insights into various professions from experts in their fields including a plastic surgeon, architects, a doctor of sports medicine for an AFLW club, and a museum conservator. This program has ignited a spark of curiosity for our students about their future careers and will continue to be a valuable part of our curriculum.
Musical Enrichment at Music Camp
The Music Camp for Years 4 to 12 was an exceptional opportunity for our students to enhance their musical knowledge and skills. It is heartwarming to witness the passion and dedication our girls put into their musical pursuits.
Celebrating the Importance of Science
Science Week was a fantastic opportunity for our students to grasp the significance of science in our lives. The integration of coding and programming into our STEM Program underscores the forward-thinking approach we take in preparing our girls for the future.
Our Snowsports season brought joy and excitement to our families at Mt Buller. We are immensely proud of our Barbreck girls who showcased their skills in cross-country skiing, skiing, and snowboarding competitions, winning the Primary Girls Overall Championship at the Victorian Interschools Cross-Country event and Runners Up in the Primary Girls Overall category at the Victorian Interschool Snowsports Championships.
The Magic of Book Week
Book Week celebrated the sheer joy that reading brings to our lives. Our students and staff entertained us with their creative Book Week costumes, and Mrs Requin’s portrayal of Miss Trunchbull from Matilda was both hilarious and impressive. The Book Week Parade displayed the breadth of reading interests and creativity among our girls (and their parents).
Honouring Our Dads
We celebrated our wonderful dads with a Father’s Day Breakfast and heartfelt gifts from the PFA Father’s Day Stall. We hope all our fathers had an unforgettable day filled with love and appreciation.
Gala Concert at the Melbourne Recital Centre
The Gala Concert was a true spectacle, showcasing the incredible talent of our Barbreck string performers and the angelic voices of our upper primary choirs. Performing at the prestigious Melbourne Recital Centre was a remarkable experience for our girls.
Charitable Endeavours
Our Barbreck girls demonstrated their generous spirit through a bake sale in support of Second Bite. We also had a heart-warming Fundraising Day, which showcased the innovative ventures of our Year 5 Business Unit and raised funds for The Smith Family.
We look forward to the exciting adventures and learning opportunities that Term 4 will bring. Thank you for being an integral part of our Barbreck School community, and for your unwavering support in nurturing the potential of our incredible girls.
PFA Spring Ball
With only three weeks until the PFA Spring Ball I encourage our School community to secure their tickets to this spectacular event prior to the school holiday period. Tickets are available here for what will be a wonderful celebration of our St Catherine’s community and will also support our exceptional Parents’ and Friends’ Association.
