Opportunities to Celebrate

As we rapidly approach the end-of-year many important Barbreck events will be held to celebrate as a School community. These events provide great opportunities to support the students and connect with other families, teachers, and community members.

Below is an outline of School-run events, families can attend over the remaining four weeks of the 2022 school year. Please note that teachers will communicate detailed event information to families prior to events.

House Aerobics & Iron Girl Event
Wednesday 16 November (2.00pm)

Our Years 5 & 6 students have begun training for this year’s House Aerobics Competition. House Captains have been leading their teams and choreographing a routine to perform as a group on the day. Parents are welcome to attend the performance on the Village Green.

One of the great traditions of Barbreck is the Year 6 Iron Girl. This event involves students running and swimming then completing a final run. Some students are pursuing the glory of having their name on the trophy, while others are determined to finish the gruelling event.

We are always so impressed with the determination of the students and the encouragement they offer one another. The event will be held after House Aerobics. Parents are welcome to stay and watch the event.

Prep to Year 2 Sports Afternoon
Wednesday 23 November (2.00pm to 3.15pm)

This event provides our Prep to Year 2 students with a fun-filled afternoon of sporting events and activities. Parents are encouraged to come and enjoy the fun and excitement.

House Swimming Carnival (Years 3 to 6)
Monday 28 November

The House Swimming Carnival is an eagerly anticipated event for many of our students. All students have an opportunity to compete in several events. The event is broken up into Years 5/6 morning session and Years 3/4 students competing in the afternoon.

Families are welcome and encouraged to come along to cheer and support the competitors.

The Barbreck Concert
Thursday 1 December (6.00pm to 8.00pm)

The Barbreck Concert showcases the musical and performing art performances of all our Barbreck students. Students have been working hard in Performing Arts lessons and ensembles throughout the year. They are excited to perform for an audience. It is an expectation that all students participate, and all parents and families are welcome.

Barbreck Christmas Church Service
Thursday 8 December (2.00pm to 3.00pm)

Our end-of-year Christmas Church service will be held at Toorak Uniting Church. All Barbreck students attend, and many participate in the Service. Families are encouraged to attend.

Final Assembly
Friday 9 December (11.00am)

The final Barbreck Assembly of 2023 is a chance to bid farewell to our Year 6 students and celebrate all the fantastic achievements of the year. Families are welcome as it is a wonderful opportunity to say farewell to one another before the summer break.

I look forward to seeing many parents and family members at these events.
