From our Head of Junior School
As we move through the final part of the year, much of our focus turns to preparing for the year ahead. We are currently confirming key dates for the 2026 School Calendar. Taking this opportunity to look ahead highlights the breadth of experiences available to the girls and reflects how the School continues to offer a balanced and engaging program across all areas of learning.
We have also finalised class structures for next year. Please see the number of classes for each year level below. While there are only a few changes, it is exciting to confirm that Year 2 will have two classes next year, reflecting strong interest and growth in this year level. In addition, Year 5 will move to two classes in 2026. Based on projected enrolments, this structure will best support the girls’ academic, social and emotional development. Our intention is to increase this cohort to three classes as they progress into Year 6.
| Year level | No. of classes |
| Prep | 1 |
| Year 1 | 1 |
| Year 2 | 2 |
| Year 3 | 1 |
| Year 4 | 2 |
| Year 5 | 2 |
| Year 6 | 3 |
We will soon begin the process of creating new class groupings for year levels with more than one class. As part of this process, students will be asked to list five friends, and we will ensure that each girl is placed with at least one of those friends. Often, many will find they have more than one friend from their list which is pleasing for the girls.
Our Step Up Day will take place on Friday 28 November, when all students from Prep to Year 5 will spend time in their new class with their 2026 teacher. Parents will also be informed of their child’s class placement on this day. Meanwhile, our Year 6 students are already engaged in their transition to Year 7 this term as they prepare for the next stage of their learning journey.
This week, we also commenced the leadership selection process for our 2026 Year 6 leaders. Understandably, many of the girls are both excited and a little nervous about this experience. We are supporting them as they prepare their applications for a range of leadership roles, including Co-Captains, House Captains, Music Captains, Library Captains and our newest position, Environmental Captains. We look forward to sharing the names of our 2026 leaders with the community towards the end of the year.
