Inspired by her time volunteering at the Clunes Booktown Market over the past two years, Environment Captain Georgina Moreton held a pre-loved book drive in the Nicholas Library this week.

“There was such a strong spirit of community at the Clunes Market where people would buy and sell pre-loved books to each other. I knew this community market would work perfectly for our St Catherine’s community too,” shares Georgina.

“As Environment Captain raising the awareness of sustainable practices is really important to me. I thought the book drive would be a great way to help students and teachers sell their old novels, textbooks and study notes as well as promoting a more environmentally friendly and economical relationship with educational resources.”

As part of the initiative Georgina organised stallholders, payment options, and spoke at Senior School Assembly to encourage students to get involved.

“All proceeds from the Book Drive will be donated to support the families and students affected by the recent primary school bus crash in Melton,” Georgina shares.

Any unsold books will be donated to charity programs in the local area.
