 The Resilience Project Parent Webinar

Thank you to parents who attended The Resilience Project parent webinar last week.

Mr Hugh van Cuylenburg’s entertaining and story-filled presentation focused on three key principles to build authentic connections:

  • Vulnerability
  • Imperfection
  • Passion

During the presentation he emphasised how these principles foster deeper connections between parents, carers, and students.

For those who could not attend the live session, or would like to watch the presentation again, the link to the webinar is available HERE. Please note that this link will expire on 24 May.

Body Safety Awareness Education

At St Catherine’s, we are deeply committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for all our students, staff, and our wider School community.

With this in mind, we would like to share some classroom Health lesson content with parents regarding our topic for Term Two, body safety awareness.

Body safety awareness refers to the knowledge and skills that children develop to recognise and respond to situations where their personal boundaries have been crossed, particularly in relation to their bodies. It involves teaching children to understand their right to physical autonomy, the importance of setting boundaries, and strategies for protecting themselves from unwanted attention.

Body safety awareness education aims to empower children to speak up and seek help when they feel uncomfortable or threatened, as well as to recognise and respond to potentially dangerous situations. Body safety awareness education is an important component of child protection and helps promote a safe and nurturing environment for children.

We understand that discussing body safety and boundaries can be a sensitive and delicate topic. In Barbreck, these conversations are taught in a developmentally appropriate and sensitive manner. We encourage parents to continue these discussions at home to reinforce the importance of body safety and to help empower their children.

The partnership between School and home is vital when teaching students about safety and their wellbeing.

We deeply appreciate the efforts of parents and carers in discussing with their daughters what they have been learning about in Barbreck. It is through these open conversations and shared understanding that we can truly support our students in their growth and development.

Thank you for your continued involvement and support in fostering a safe and nurturing environment for our students.
