The girls have had a fantastic start to the year, filled with music, acting, dancing and performances.

Our ensembles and choirs have significantly grown this term. There is a new buzz in the air filled with the warm and bright sounds of strings, ukulele, percussion, flute, and choral singing. On Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, there is always something happening either during recess or lunchtime.

Seussical Jr.

The Years 5 and 6 Musical, Seussical Jr. is in motion. Everyone has been working hard to learn their lines, dances and all the songs.

With a heavy singing component, Seussical Jr. provides multiple performing arts learning opportunities and musical theatre experiences. The entire cast has welcomed the challenge and are enthusiastic every step of the way.

The main roles and chorus from both casts have done an outstanding job so far. We look forward to it all coming together next term.

Junior School Recitals

Our very first combined Senior and Junior School recitals were a success.

This year, the focus word is ‘unity.’ We aim to build a strong cohesion between the two campuses. Younger musicians watching and working with the older girls and vice versa. We can all learn something new from collaborating with each other.

Our Junior School Music Co-Captains, Charlotte Parfit and Sunny Xu have enjoyed working with our Senior Music Captains, Jo-Jo Patterson, and Angela Tang.

What did you enjoy about working with Jo-Jo Patterson?

“I felt happy to work with the Senior School Music Captain because she provided a different perspective on how to introduce performers and I got tips about body posture from someone who has a bit more experience in music. It was fun to speak to Jo-Jo about that.”
Charlotte Parfit, Barbreck Music Co-Captain

Why is it important to work collaboratively with the Senior School Captains?

“It is important to share our diverse musical experiences and knowledge with each other. We also learn from each other.”
Sunny Xu, Barbreck Music Co-Captain

Barbreck Disco

The Barbreck Disco was a highlight of the term. Ms Catherine Roosenburg, mother of Anna Roosenburg in Year 6, joined forces with Ms Meredith Taylor, from St Catherine’s School Advancement Team and a team of Year 6 parents to organise a brilliant event for our Prep to Year 6 girls.

Thank you very much for your care and enthusiasm. The event ran very smoothly with DJ Sam I Am, guiding the groove of the night.

All our Year 6 leaders assisted the lower primary girls beautifully and everyone enjoyed a good boogie and some pizza.

Barbreck Music Assembly

We are all extremely proud of the Prep, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, and Year 4 girls. Well done to all who sang and played in the Strings, Percussion and Ukulele Ensembles.

For our Preps, this was their very first performance on stage in front of a big audience – they did an amazing job!

What a grand way to end Term 1. The Selena Yao Auditorium was bustling with anticipation as parents arrived. Thank you to all parents who attended this performance and for your continuous support at home.
