With the Summer holidays rapidly approaching, it is a wonderful time for students and families to relax, unwind and enjoy each other’s company. It is also a fabulous time for students and families to reflect on the year that has passed.

Throughout 2022, we worked closely with The Resilience Project to support the wellbeing of our Barbreck community. The Resilience Project delivers emotionally engaging programs and provides evidence-based, practical strategies to build resilience.

Our School Values of Gratitude and Empathy are cornerstones of The Resilience Project (TRP), so it was wonderful to further highlight and embed these Values into our everyday lives.

Our Partnership Program consisted of online presentations and weekly lessons for students, professional development for staff, and a Parent and Carers Hub, which includes digital presentations.

It would be fantastic if students and families could continue to discuss and utilise the three key pillars of resilience over the summer holidays. This will consolidate and enrich the students learning throughout the year and enable them to hit the ground running in 2023.

As a reminder the three pillars of resilience are:

Gratitude is paying attention to the things that we have right now, and not worrying about what we do not have. We do this by noticing the positives that exist around us.

Empathy is our ability to put ourselves in the shoes of others to feel and see what they do. We do this through being kind and compassionate towards other people.

Mindfulness is our ability to be calm and present at any given moment. We do this by slowing down and concentrating on one thing at a time.

For further information visit the Information Hub at The Resilience Project here.

Also in the Wellbeing space, next Tuesday 29 November we will be holding our Diversity Dash Colour Run. This activity encourages students to get active as part of a fun, social, colourful and inclusive event, conducted within the School grounds. Students will be able to skip, dance and walk their way through a fun lap of our School, whilst being dusted with colourful non-toxic colours. This is an opt-in event for students so please check Operoo for more details and information on the event.

Thank you for your support throughout the year.
