Did you know spinning tops have been found on every continent, except Antarctica?

Clay tops were found in the ancient city of Ur dating back to 3500 BC. Ur is modern day Tell el-Muqayyar, which lies 187 miles southeast of Baghdad, Iraq.

Roman tops were made from bone.

In modern times, Japanese tops have been made from wood.

This week, our Year 1 girls designed and made their own cardboard spinning tops as a practical component of our History Unit.

The joy on their faces as the colours blended is a testament to why spinning tops have lasted the test of time.
