Health Check: Prep, Year 3 and Year 5

During our specialist Health sessions this term, the Prep girls have been discovering many things about themselves. They are recognising how bodies grow and change over time. They have looked at what they could do as a baby, compared to what they can do now and then what they can look forward to as they grow up. The girls identified things they are good at now and things they are not able to do yet.

Many interesting discussions and detailed drawings have resulted as they learn more about their bodies, both inside and out.

The Year 3s have been delving into their emotions. They have identified the many different emotions and feelings we have. The girls are developing an understanding of empathy, for not just everyday issues, but for people with disabilities, disorders, and differences, i.e., autism spectrum disorder. Working in pairs, they had to describe different ways to respond, showing empathy to ten different situations.

The students in Year 5 have been revisiting the topic of diversity, looking at the different ways we value and celebrate differences. They worked in small groups to research and present their findings on the various topics valuing diversity. Some chose a video presentation pointing out how our School is an inclusive place with accessible spaces for those with a disability or injury. Others chose PowerPoint presentations to explain their topic, giving examples and issues on discrimination, cultural celebrations, and racism.
