Since commencing our partnership with The Resilience Project in 2022, our Barbreck girls have been practising showing and feeling gratitude, empathy and introducing mindfulness into their daily lives.

Since the end of March, I have been sharing our Parent Series from The Resilience Project via The Blue Ribbon. It has been great to hear that many of our Barbreck families have utilised these resources and introduced mindfulness into their daily lives as well.

In the final edition of The Resilience Project’s digital series, Founder, Mr Hugh van Cuylenburg shares an important message about allowing our children to experience adversity.

The key to building resilience in our children is allowing them to experience failure, hardship, and disappointment, to name a few. As parents, we can be too quick to resolve our children’s challenges which can deprive them of enormous growth opportunities. These typically occur when we experience failure and uncertainty. As parents we should be there for our children when they fail, but not fight their battles for them.

Further information on the importance of experiencing adversity can be found here. To view previous editions and access additional resources please click here.

I hope our Parenting Series from The Resilience Project has been beneficial for our Barbreck families. Families can also subscribe to The Resilience Project to receive up to date information on a range of topics here.

I look forward to hearing from students and their families about how learning about The Resilience Project has had a positive impact on their lives.
