Milestones 125 Gala: Unplugged

Due to ongoing COVID restrictions, St Catherine’s School’s 2021 Gala Concert, Milestones 125, has been postponed to 2022 at the Melbourne Recital Centre.

However, the show must go on via…The Blue Ribbon! Each week performances and rehearsals from our talented Barbreck and Senior School students will be showcased.

Although nothing compares to the stage, we hope our School community enjoys the passion and talents of our musicians and performers digitally.

Year 10 student Flora Du loves a challenge.

She has been studying Violin at St Catherine’s since Year 7 and at the beginning of Year 9 – wanting to add to her music knowledge, experience new perspectives and open up possibilities for the future – decided to take up Viola as well.

Flora contributes her wonderful skills to the St Catherine’s Jorgensen Orchestra, Senior Strings and Year 10 Quartet. She also plays piano.

Flora is the epitome of resilience, with her Grade 6 Violin Examination postponed four times due to COVID, she has maintained peak performance standard for many months, waiting to be given the green light to finally sit the exam.

With true St Catherine’s grit, Flora is determined to complete this milestone and we send her all our support and encouragement as she continues to pursue this goal.

Please enjoy Flora’s performance of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, K. 525: I. Allegro by Mozart, accompanied by Mrs Kate Denmead.
