From the Director of Planning and Organisation

Next week marks the commencement of further study for many of our 2017 graduates.

In 2018 they will commence, or prepare to commence, courses in 26 different fields at 20 different institutes within Australia and abroad.

A number of our girls are also currently working in the United Kingdom and France on gap placements. The feedback from some is they are thoroughly enjoying working in UK boarding schools, or au pairs in France.

For some students, the acceptance into their desired tertiary pathways required the completion of additional assessments and criteria. For some students this included the completion of personal statements, tests, design tasks, portfolios, teacher references and interviews. I am very proud of the girls who had to complete these additional tasks. The experiences at St Catherine’s provided them with a fabulous platform to highlight personal skills and qualities.

Over the summer one of our 2017 graduates commenced extensive work in her desired industry and I am pleased to say she was able to secure an apprenticeship in her chosen field and is thoroughly enjoying this opportunity. We also had students offered scholarships based on merit or equity at a variety of universities and courses. Nineteen students will also commence double degrees or courses with honours.

Offers were obtained from most Victorian universities. Interstate university offers were from the Australian National Univeristy, Sydney, Canberra, University of Queensland, Bond University and Tasmania. In the UK students were successfully offered places at Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial, Durham and Edinburgh Universities. We are also currently awaiting news of applications completed for the US.
