From our Head of Junior School
As we come to the end of the school year, I find myself reflecting on my first year at St Catherine’s. It has been a privilege to step into a community where care for the girls is the focus in the classroom, the playground, and every interaction in between. What has stood out most is the strong sense of belonging that exists here, along with the breadth of opportunities and a rigorous academic program that continues to challenge and inspire each student. I have worked in, and been involved with, many schools throughout my career and, without doubt, St Catherine’s is a special place. I feel incredibly fortunate to be here.
This week we have had the joy of farewelling our Year 6 girls through a church service, dinner, assembly, and the tradition of ringing the bell and jumping in the pool, as they prepare to make the exciting transition to Senior School. Their growth, leadership, and spirit have been a highlight of the year and we wish them every success as they take their next steps. I am especially grateful to this group as they have welcomed me to the School from Day One. All the very best, Year 6.
We also acknowledge several staff who are concluding their time at St Catherine’s. We thank Ms Georgina Stride, Mrs Virginia Guest and Mrs Sue Duffy for their many years of dedication as they retire. Between them, they have given 53 years of service to the School. Their commitment to students has been extraordinary and we wish them all the best in this exciting new stage of life. We are also farewelling Ms Marissa Caluzzi as she moves to a school closer to home, and Ms Rose Allan as she returns to university. Each has contributed significantly to our Junior School community and we wish them all the very best for what comes next.
Last Friday we held our Transition Day for 2026 and there is a sense of excitement about what next year may bring for each girl. We are delighted to be welcoming 31 new students to the Junior School.
Thank you for your support, trust, and partnership throughout the year. I look forward to welcoming the girls, refreshed and ready for new challenges, when we begin a new year together in 2026. We wish everyone a festive and relaxing break.
