Junior School Sport
As we reach the end of a fabulous 2025, we reflect on the many unforgettable moments where each Blue Ribbon girl showed incredible spirit.
From our Carnival Sports, Cross-Country, Swimming and Diving, Track and Field and Snowsports, through to the ever-popular Years 5 and 6 After-School Sport Program, there has been something for everyone. Each Tuesday afternoon, our courts and fields came alive with girls showcasing their talent and determination in games such as T-ball, Netball and Soccer. The growth and enthusiasm demonstrated week after week was a joy to witness.
We also saw phenomenal performances from our Year 6 students who were selected across a wide range of District Sports including Soccer, Netball, Tennis, Hockey, AFL 9s, Basketball, Water Polo and Cricket. One of the clear highlights of the Barbreck sporting year was the extraordinary achievement of our Year 6 Hockey team, who progressed all the way to the State Championships, and finished an impressive 3rd overall. Not only that, but the team was also awarded the Spirit of Sport Award, standing out among all 15 schools at the State Finals; an honour made even more meaningful as they were nominated by their opposition. It was a fitting reflection of the way our girls carry themselves and proudly represent St Catherine’s.
And who could forget the energy, colour and excitement of our wonderful House Carnivals across the year!
We were delighted to announce during this week that Arabella Lutz was awarded the Year 6 Sporty Girl Award for 2025. This award celebrates the student who has represented the School in the greatest number of sporting events throughout the year, whilst also reaching the highest levels in competition, including progressing to state carnivals. Congratulations, Arabella, an outstanding and well-deserved achievement!
The results of the all-important Barbreck House Cup were revealed this morning at our final assembly. After a year of fierce competition, community spirit and determination, the winners of the 2025 House Cup are… Davis! A huge well done to all our girls in Davis.
Finally, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all parents and students for your support and commitment. From early morning drop-offs to long days spent cheering from the sidelines, your dedication is commendable and welcomed: we truly couldn’t do it without you.
Wishing all families a safe, restful, and joyful holiday break.
