Meet our new Director of Sport

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Lewis Gray as Director of Sport at St Catherine’s School.
Lewis brings extensive experience leading inclusive, high-performing school sport programs and joins us from Pymble Ladies’ College in Sydney – a school recently recognised as Australia’s first independent Olympic Pathway School by the Australian Olympic Committee.
At Pymble, Lewis revitalised the Swimming and Rowing programs, achieving exceptional results while nurturing a strong culture of inclusion and belonging. Under his leadership, the Swimming team broke a 37-year drought to win the National Age and Multiclass Championships and reclaimed the Independent Girls’ Schools Association (IGSA) title, with a 450% increase in event wins. Two para swimmers also qualified for the National Flippers Squad – a testament to his commitment to inclusive excellence.
He also led the growth of the Snowsports program, with the Junior School team placing first at the NSW State Championships and students regularly qualifying for national events. He introduced new recognition frameworks and has led planning for Pymble’s first international Snowsports tour in 2027.
Lewis’ background in Rowing is equally impressive. A former Head Coach of the RAF Marham Rowing Club, he has led crews to national success while building programs focused on participation, performance and wellbeing. At Pymble, he guided the Rowing team to consecutive national titles and the 2025 IGSA win – alongside growing student engagement and strengthening community ties.
With strong financial and operational leadership experience, Lewis has managed large-scale budgets, capital projects, and major sporting events. Throughout the recruitment process, he impressed with his strategic vision, genuine care for student experience, and his belief in the power of sport to build character, connection and confidence.
We are thrilled to welcome Lewis, his wife Chloe, and their children Arlo and Lyla to the St Catherine’s community and look forward to this exciting new chapter for Sport at our School.
