Careers Week

Careers Week launched with a strong sense of connection, curiosity, and inspiration, offering students valuable insight into life beyond the School gates. From Old Girl guest speakers and creative workshops to peer mentoring and personalised pathway planning, the week highlighted the power of storytelling, role modelling and sisterhood in shaping the future.
Senior School Careers Assembly
Artist-in-Residence – Emma Davies (’86)
As part of St Catherine’s Careers Week celebrations, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming back acclaimed textile artist Emma Davies (’86) as our Artist in Residence. Emma, who attended the School in Years 6 to 8, has been generously sharing her time, expertise and passion for sustainable artmaking with students across the Junior and Senior Schools.
Working closely with Year 10 Art students, Emma introduced a sculptural textile technique that has allowed each student to create an abstracted three-dimensional form in response to her own contemporary works. Meanwhile, in Years 7 and 8, students have each crafted their own fabric-wrapped textile lengths, which Emma is weaving into a collaborative basket – a beautiful reflection of her signature practice that transforms discarded materials into meaningful forms. Junior School students also joined in the creativity, with Grade 2s painting upcycled fabrics and Grade 6s contributing bound lengths that Emma has already transformed into a bespoke basket for the Junior School. Emma also delivered an inspiring artist lecture to the Unit 1 Art Creative Practice class, took part in assembly, and joined a Careers Q&A panel – helping our students understand the diverse and vibrant possibilities of a creative career.
Year 10 Morrisby Testing
On Wednesday 14 May, Year 10s engaged in a Morrisby Profile review with Tyson Day from Arrive and Thrive, helping them navigate their strengths and interests and pathway plan for the future.
Year 11s share advice at Junior School Assembly
As an extension of Careers Week and our ongoing commitment to fostering connection across year levels, Year 11 students Isabelle C and Mila H visited the Junior School on Friday 16 May to speak with younger students about life in the Senior School and their aspirations for the future.
Opportunities like this not only provide our Junior students with a glimpse of what lies ahead but also help to build meaningful relationships between year levels. Hearing directly from older students encourages curiosity, confidence and goal setting, while offering a warm and relatable perspective on the journey through St Catherine’s. It’s a valuable moment of sisterhood in action – strengthening bonds, celebrating shared experiences, and reminding students that they’re part of a connected and supportive community from Prep to Year 12.
