GSV Round 2 Wrap Up
Round 2 of GSV began with our Senior teams taking the courts and fields. Premier League Netball faced a tough opposition in Mentone Girls’ Grammar and played outstandingly. The team went down 24-31 but were on the heels of Mentone late. Our Senior Hockey managed a very strong 4-2 win over MLC behind some really impressive play from the forwards.
Our Inter Netball A got a gritty win over Our Lady of Mercy College at our St Catherine’s courts, while Inter Hockey went down 2-0 to Toorak College.
The biggest result of the week went to Junior AFL who won their first match of the season and for over a year beating Melbourne Girls’ Grammar School 22 – 6. The girls played great footy and should be so proud. Our Senior AFL team fought hard against a very talented MGGS outfit, going down 55-0.

We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of two outstanding swimmers from our school, Vera Z (Year 10) and Kimberly C (Year 7), who were selected to represent GSV at the prestigious Victorian Schools Associations Competition held at MSAC on Monday night. House Athletics
On Tuesday 13 May, the Senior School gathered at Duncan McKinnon Reserve for one of the most anticipated events on the sporting calendar — the annual House Athletics Carnival. With the sun shining and spirits high, the day was set for fierce competition, house pride, and plenty of personal bests.
It was fantastic to see such strong participation and determination from all students as they threw, jumped and sprinted their way through the day. House colours filled the venue and the energy was electric as students cheered on their peers across every event.
Two of the most exciting moments on the track were our showcase sprints. The Junior Flyer featured the 10 fastest Year 7 students over 100m, with Imogen Brownjohn powering home for the win in a time of 13.68 seconds — an impressive display of raw speed and composure.

Off the track, the house chant competition brought the noise — quite literally — with each house putting forward their most creative and passionate performance to earn those all-important extra points. Langley Templeton took out the chant title for 2025 with a spirited and united effort.
To close out the day, the crowd was treated to an unforgettable final race — the 8x100m relay. With Langley Templeton holding the lead for most of the race, Davis’s Isabella F delivered the chase-down of the year, surging home in the final stretch to snatch victory for her house in spectacular fashion.
Thank you to all the parents and staff who supported the day — from cheering trackside to helping with events, your presence was greatly appreciated.
