This week, I had the privilege of attending the Victorian Interschool Snowsports Championship at Mt Buller. Despite lower-than-average snow levels, and some challenging weather conditions, our St Catherine’s snowsports athletes had a memorable time representing our School.   

Throughout the week, our students demonstrated their skills and determination. Some of them earned medals and qualified for the upcoming National Snowsports Championship, which will be held in two weeks, again at Mt Buller.   

I want to express my gratitude to Miss Olivia Cody and Mr Tom Crebbin for their dedication to organising and managing our Snowsports Team. Their skills and commitment greatly contribute to the ongoing success of our Snowsports Program.   

I would also like to thank all our Barbreck parents who volunteered their time to assist in running the events and fostering a sense of teamwork and community. Special thanks go to Mrs Georgina Switkowski and Mrs Tiffany Pascoe for their ongoing support of the St Catherine’s Snowsports community and events. Your efforts are much appreciated by our staff and Junior School Snowsports families.   

For me, what stood out during this event was the strong sense of community and support amongst our families. While some of our competitors have been skiing since early childhood, and spend their winter weekends on the slopes, there were families who, although relatively new to the sport, made significant efforts to ensure their daughters could contribute to the Team’s success.   

As we reflect on this year’s Snowsports season, we look forward to the adventures that await us next year. I encourage more families to consider joining us in experiencing the fun and excitement of Snowsports.
