SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium Excursion

Last Friday, our Prep, Year One and Year Two students were scientists for the morning.

Accompanied by our wonderful parent helpers, we set off on a bus ride to the Melbourne SEA LIFE Aquarium. The girls loved the bus ride, a first for many.

On arrival, the girls happily ate a quick snack with the seagulls before heading into the Aquarium. We were greeted by experienced hosts who took the girls around to many different habitats. The girls saw firsthand how each creature was specifically suited to their individual habitat. The penguins in their icy Antarctic habitat were a highlight for most, as well as the giant crocodile, which the girls closely examined while sitting on a see-through glass floor.

The excursion provided the girls with the opportunity to build on what they have been learning about in STEM – looking at the needs of living things, their adaptations, and habitats. They also used their observational skills to collect information. The knowledge gained has been evident in their learning and explanation of ideas.

The girls were excited (a massive understatement), engaged in their learning and in absolute awe of the magical world they were in.

A big thank you to our parent helpers who provided support throughout the excursion.
