Next week is a big week in Barbreck. In the four days after the public holiday, we have NAPLAN, Parent-Teacher Interviews and the Barbreck Disco.

NAPLAN

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students will be held in March this year.

NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar, and punctuation) and numeracy. The results of the tests provide information for students, parents, teachers, and schools and can be used to improve student achievement.

Along with all other students of the same age across Australia, our Years 3 and 5 Barbreck students will be participating in NAPLAN.

Students will complete the Writing test on Wednesday, followed by the Reading and Conventions of Language on Thursday and Numeracy on Friday. We wish all students participating in the assessments well.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

This is a reminder to parents that we will be holding Parent-Teacher Interviews on Thursday 16 March from 1.30pm – 7.00pm. These nights provide a wonderful opportunity to meet with your daughter’s teacher to discuss her areas of strength, areas for improvement, Learning Behaviours, progress made and ways in which you can support her learning.

Please note that this semester in Barbreck, we are offering bookings for either face-to-face or online meetings. These can be booked via PTO on the mystcatherines parent portal.

If you wish to have your booked meeting online, please email the teacher, and they will send you an MS Teams meeting link the day before your interview.

Unless you have contacted the teacher to specify you want an online meeting, teachers will expect to see you at Barbreck for your meeting.

If you have any questions, or require further information about the evening, please contact Lauren Keavy at lkeavy@stcatherines.net.au

Lost property

Unfortunately, the Barbreck lost property tub is beginning to overflow with unnamed items. If items are named, they are easy to return to students. Please make sure all clothing, lunchboxes, drink bottles and all other personal items are named before they are bought to School.

I wish students and families a well-deserved restful long weekend.
