mystcatherines Portal – Stay Connected and Informed

St Catherine’s prides itself on the connectedness of its community. This connection, between students, parents and guardians, educators and the wider community is vital for quality teaching and learning in and beyond the classroom. Evidence continues to suggest that an environment that promotes this connection has influence on student outcomes from Kindergarten to Year 12 (Dryfoos 2000, Henderson & Mapp 2002).

Our mystcatherines Portal, accessed via your browser or the app, provides a central resource that ensures students, parents, educators, and our wider community are connected, supported, and informed, regardless of location.

As a learning management system, mystcatherines not only connects students to learning resources and feedback assisting the development of their independence, but it also allows parents and guardians to support their child on their learning journey.

Features of mystcatherines

mySchool connects you with vital information to support your daughter in School life. From understanding the VCE, to familiarising yourself with the latest camp in our Beyond Boundaries Program or finding your child’s missing text on the Booklist.

myCommunity allows you to connect and discover the different auxiliaries in the School that are so vital in supporting the pursuits of students. You can find information on upcoming events, connect with St Catherine’s Old Girls’ Association (SCOGA) and the Parents’ and Friends’ Association (PFA).

myInformation is a great administrative resource for all parents and guardians. From school bus timetables to topping up a FlexiSchools account for the Café, updating your daughter’s profile in Operoo prior to an excursion or simply checking the term dates.

myPublications provides a window into the wider School community. From the latest news to the annual School Magazine and the insightful and informative articles from educators on the Blog and weekly Blue Ribbon

Organisation

A critical feature of mystcatherines is the opportunity for parents to support the learning journey of their child as they develop their skills as an independent learner. Parents and guardians can access their child’s timetable, calendar and upcoming assessments and their due dates through the Due Work tab. For those with learners who struggle at times with organisation, this information can help you support your child in planning and time management. It can also promote discussions about learning at home.

Assessment and Feedback

Timely and relevant feedback on assessment remains a critical influence on the development of student learning (Hattie & Timperley, 2007).

St Catherine’s is proud of its continuous feedback model which has been in the Senior School for some time and is currently being rolled out across Years 4 to 6.

Teachers give valuable feedback at the conclusion of each assessment, rather than a summation on learning at the end of the semester. This allows students to review their results and feedback and enact suggestions in moving forward.

Parents and guardians also have access to this information and are encouraged to use it to have conversations and support their child around their learning and development. This can be found under the Grades Tab on mystcatherines.

Accessing and Navigating
