Barbreck News – Leadership Assembly 2023

Last week we presented our Year 6 student leaders with their Barbreck Agreement and their Year 6 Leadership Badges. We also acknowledged our elected Student Captains for 2023 during our annual Leadership Assembly. The Captains received their certificates and role descriptions for the year and were presented with sashes of responsibilities.

Our Leadership Assembly is a rite of passage for our Year 6 girls. A tradition many have been looking forward to for many years. It is one of our main traditions within Barbreck, and one the girls take seriously, as it signifies they are leaders of our school – a position that holds much responsibility.

Our 2023 Junior School Captains are listed below.

to accept my role and take my responsibilities seriously.

I will work hard to be a role model for others

through my words, effort, and actions.

I agree to uphold and demonstrate the values of my school being:

absolute and unwavering integrity,

a sense of curiosity,

perseverance

and genuine empathy at all times.

I believe

Nil Magnum Nisi Bonum,

Nothing is great unless it is good.

Parent Information Evening

Our Barbreck staff look forward to welcoming our Prep to Year 6 parent community to our upcoming information evening to be held on Tuesday 21 February at 6.00pm in the Selena Yao Auditorium, Barbreck Junior School.

The Parent Information Sessions will be followed by a social evening on the Village Green in the Junior School.

The night serves several purposes, including providing our parent community with information on:

  • Our Barbreck Academic Strategy
  • What makes Barbreck unique?

It also provides a wonderful opportunity for parents to meet with their daughter’s class teachers and to hear about the year ahead, as well as meet and socialise with the ELC and Barbreck community over drinks and nibbles kindly provided by our Parents’ and Friends’ Association.

We warmly encourage you to attend this important event.

Bookings for the Information Session and Social Evening can be made via this link.

Teddy Bear’s Picnic
2 March 4.30pm to 7.00pm

Each year we hold our much-loved Teddy Bear’s Picnic. Our girls from Prep to Year 4 can dress up their teddy bears, while our girls in Years 5 and 6 showcase their graphic and photographic design skills as part of the afternoon’s activities.

We hope our Barbreck families can attend this wonderful community event and share in the excitement of the girls as they parade their teddies and photography/graphic art.

Please note that we do not expect costumes bought for teddies; imagination and creativity (with parental supervision of course!) are the highlights of the event!
