School Leaders Make Education Hot List

Congratulations to St Catherine’s School Principal, Michelle Carroll and Director of Teaching and Learning, Ceri Lloyd who were today recognised as outstanding leaders in education.

Named in The Educator Hot List for 2022, Michelle and Ceri are highlighted as leaders to watch in the Australian education sector. Assessed against their peers, the Hot List recognises educators who are providing innovative and exceptional learning experiences for students.

In a period, which has seen St Catherine’s ranked as the number one girls school in Victoria, home to the fastest schoolgirl rowing crew in the world and finalists in the Australian Education Awards, the Hot List acknowledgement for two of the School’s leadership team is testament to the unwavering commitment the School has to delivering exceptional outcomes for young women.

“Michelle has been Principal of St Catherine’s School for eight years. Under her inspiring leadership, there has been a transformation in the School’s teaching and learning culture, as well as achievements in co-curricular fields including sport and performing arts, and the introduction of unique learning initiatives that enhance the agency of our students,” shares Jane Hodder, Chair of St Catherine’s School Council.

“Michelle’s ability to skillfully develop and support staff ensures they are empowered to work in the best interests of students, constantly reflecting on their professional practice, leading to innovative curriculum delivery and ultimately, academic excellence.”

Stepping into the role of Director of Teaching and Learning this year, Ceri Lloyd has made a significant impact on the outcomes for St Catherine’s students.

“Ceri is an educator at the forefront of excellence in contemporary education. Ceri led the development and implementation of St Catherine’s innovative Senior Years Learning Model for Years 10 to 12. The Model focuses on equipping our students with the critical skills required for careers in the 21st century including enquiry, deep-thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration,” Ms Hodder shares. “Ceri’s ability to grasp the theoretical and practical components of teaching and learning makes her unique among educators. Her ability to understand the needs of students, and successfully develop educational platforms to meet these needs, is what makes her an outstanding leader in education.”

The Educator Hot List Awards for 2022 evaluates educators from across Australia on the overall impact their work has had on the Early Learning to Year 12 education sector over the past 12 months. Educators must demonstrate expertise in linking theory and practice in the school environment and designing and implementing innovations that provide students with high-quality educational experiences.

“This announcement is a well-deserved acknowledgement of the capacity, service, and dedication of these outstanding women. Congratulations Michelle and Ceri.” Ms Hodder said.
