Is there a better way to truly understand a novel, than to have the opportunity to discuss the work directly with the author?

Year 12 students of English and their teachers were honoured to welcome writer, Rosalie Ham, author of The Dressmaker, to St Catherine’s School last week.

Students are currently involved in the comparative study of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible and Rosalie Ham’s The Dressmaker. Rosalie was able to provide deep and engaging insights into this comparative study which will assist students as they prepare for their upcoming SAC and VCE English examination.

In her presentation, Rosalie covered areas including the creation of the work – why and how she wrote The Dressmaker. Students were able to ask questions about the text and the writing process, which were addressed with expertise, care, and humour.

Thank you to Rosalie Ham for her time and words. We wish our Year 12 students every success in their upcoming English SAC.
