Victorian Snowsports Champions 2022

This week I had the honour of attending the Victorian Interschools Snowsports Championships at Mt Buller. Whilst weather conditions at times were testing, competitors had a fantastic time representing our School.

Throughout the week what struck me most was the sense of community and support amongst our families. While many of the competitors had skied since they were toddlers, spending each weekend of winter on the snow, there were families that were relatively inexperienced and were making a huge effort so their daughter could contribute to the team.

Our competitors were skilled and determined during the Championships. Many of them received medals and qualified for the National Snowsports Championships to be held in two weeks’ time at Perisher Ski Resort in New South Wales.

Congratulations to our St Catherine’s Junior School Team who were crowned overall Primary Female Interschool Snowsports Champions. Our Junior School Snowsports Captains, Annika Gill and Camilla Aberdeen proudly accepted the trophy at the medal ceremony. Well done to all our competitors and their families!

Thank you also to Miss Olivia Cody, Snowsports Coordinator and Mr Tom Crebbin, Barbreck Coordinator of Sport, for organising and managing the Team. Both Olivia and Tom are dedicated staff who contribute heavily to the success of our Snowsports Program. A huge thank you also goes to parents who assisted with marshalling and ensuring the events ran smoothly.

We look forward to retaining the title next year and I highly encourage more Barbreck families to enjoy the fun and excitement of Snowsports in 2023.
