Barbreck News – Week 6 Update

As we move past the halfway point of Term 1, it has been pleasing to see students settle into school routines. Students are working hard in the classroom and are making the most of all their co-curricular opportunities. Co-curricular Clubs and activities have been greatly attended and to the delight of our Years 2 and 3 girls, our Junior School STEM teacher, Ms Tori Shaw, has introduced a lunchtime STEM Challenge Club. The Club provides the girls an additional opportunity to build, create and problem solve.

It was wonderful to attend the Years 4 to 6 PFA Social Evening on Tuesday night. I enjoyed catching up with parents and chatting about upcoming events including, Snowsports, District sports, camps, and Music excursions. Events we have missed out on over the last couple of years, but are firmly on track for this year.

We have recently enjoyed some fantastic performances at our Barbreck Assembly. I would like to congratulate Sophie Wang and Cheryl Li on their performances on piano. It is incredible to witness such skill from those who are so young. Obviously, many hours of dedicated practice have gone into developing their craft. Well done girls!

We also had a presentation from our Year 5 students on their recent Study Tour to Sovereign Hill. Further details and a wonderful gallery of images from the Study Tour can be enjoyed in Ms Kirrilly Wootton’s Blue Ribbon article here. Recounting their Study Tour not only provided the audience with a wonderful update, it was also a great opportunity for the girls to experience speaking into a microphone to an audience.

We have various presentations and items at assembly each week and parents are welcome to attend. Classroom and specialist teachers will endeavour to let parents know if their child has a role in an upcoming assembly.

A reminder to parents that Parent-Teacher Interviews will be face-to-face at School on Thursday 17 March between 1.30pm till 7.00pm. These meetings provide a wonderful opportunity to meet with your daughter’s teacher to discuss her areas of strength, areas for improvement, learning behaviours, progress made, and ways in which you can support her learning.

Bookings can be made via the mystcatherines portal here and accessing the PTO tile. Online bookings will close 4.00pm Tuesday 15 March. If you have any issues accessing an interview time or have any other questions, please contact Junior School Reception on 9828 3062.
