To show the girls that everyone is experiencing online learning with the same challenges and the same ‘Can Do Attitude’, I asked parents to take photos of their daughter/s and to email them in to the school. The response was wonderful and showed the girls are all happy and eager to connect with all of their Barbreck friends. It will be good for the younger girls to see the older girls working in this environment too – setting wonderful examples for them! Thank you to all parents who could contribute photographs. We will be putting together a number of montages over the coming months so we can give an insight to what the girls do at School, how the connections between the girls are strong, and the many ways in which they are developing and learning. I hope you will enjoy these!

Accepting, Adjusting and Adapting

As we now face another week of lockdown, it is good to know that we have been here before and are becoming well versed at moving to the online learning platform. I think the hardest part was accepting the announcement – that we were moving to online learning for the second time this year. Once we accepted the decision, it was great to see that everyone adjusted and adapted quickly.

As with all technology, changes had been made to the platform, but the Barbreck staff are quick learners. Like the girls, we exchanged tips and learnt from each other. We have kept to providing a full timetable of lessons and so will be able to maintain the progress of our learning programs for the girls.

From all reports, the girls have easily adjusted to online learning and hopefully this lockdown period will end shortly and we can get everyone back onto the campus. In the meantime, please let teachers or myself know if there are any challenges you may have. We will do our best to help.

Onsite Care for Children of Authorised Workers

Once again, St Catherine’s is proudly able to provide care for school-aged children of authorised workers. We have a number of students learning onsite and are supervised by a range of St Catherine’s staff. They are undertaking all activities, even cooking with the help of the ELC oven!
