Junior School – Special Visitors Day

Waiting to perform

We are extremely grateful to all the Special Visitors who attended our Prep to Year 3 Special Visitors Day on Friday 21 May. The girls were so excited to share their School experience.

The girls would love to share some of their recounts or thank you letters.

Year 2

Elizabeth Switkowski

“On Thursday night I didn’t sleep because I was so excited about Special Visitors Day. I walked faster than usual to get to School because I was so keen to see Papa. When I walked onto the choir stands I spotted Papa straight away. When it was time to collect our special visitor, I ran to him. I showed Papa my fairy tale. He was very proud of me! When it was time to say goodbye, I was very sad. I wish we can have Special Visitors Days again! Papa left with the flower I made him on his suit jacket. I think he liked it!”

Nina Steedman

“I could not stop thinking about Special Visitors Day. When we were going to sing on the choir stands, I had so many butterflies in my tummy, because I couldn’t wait to sing in front of my Special Visitors, Ba and Babcia. After we sang some songs, my class played some violin pieces. One was called Mr Sun and the other piece was Beijing Nights. When we finished, Mrs Dods asked us to go and find our Special Visitors and take them to our classroom. I showed them my work. We also played some Maths games. After that I took them to the STEM room to show them the mealworms. Even Ba was brave to hold one! Then they both had to leave. When they left I felt very sad and proud at the same time. They said my work was neat, but I didn’t want them to leave!”

Shama Aljneibi

“I could not sleep Thursday night because it was Special Visitors Day on Friday. I was so excited! When we went to sing on the choir stands, I was looking for my Special Visitor. We all sang some beautiful songs for our visitors. When the teacher asked us to go and find our Special Visitor, I ran so fast and I hugged her straight away. Her name is Alaa. I brought her to my class and showed her the book that I made in class. We did some Maths games and I showed her the mealworms in the STEM room. She said she loved my work! I was so grateful because she came to my School.”

Year 2 Strings

“Thursday night was a sleepless night, because I was thinking about Special Visitors Day. I was very quick at getting ready for school, because I was excited to see my grandma. When I arrived at School I was jumping up and down with excitement. When I was up on the choir stands I was very proud of myself and everyone else. As our violin performance began, I started to think that I would play the wrong note, but I didn’t. I was sad when I couldn’t find my Special Visitor, because my sister had already taken her. I got back with her and we spent some time in my sister’s room. Then we spent time in my room and I read my fairy tale to them. I gave grandma the paper flower and bookmark. After that, we went in the STEM room and I showed her the mealworms. Then it was time for my grandma to go. I was really sad, but grateful that she came from Brisbane to be my Special Visitor!”
