ELC Update – Collaborative Learning

The children in the Early Learning Centre are currently engaged in collaborative projects to prepare end of year celebrations in the form of video presentations. Over recent weeks, the children have been reflecting on their year, brainstorming ideas, writing storylines, recording audio and video, taking photographs and creating artwork to include in their class videos. This will be a celebration of their learning in the ELC this year. The children have taken proud ownership of this process and are actively involved in all aspects of decision making, planning and preparation.

This has been a great opportunity for children to work together collaboratively with peers in small groups. The children are learning to share ideas, negotiate, problem solve and take on different roles in their project. It is wonderful to see the learning and skills that they have gained throughout the year on display through this collaborative project work.

The celebration videos are currently in production. After some more fine-tuning, the children will be delighted to share their video production with their families in the coming weeks! We know that this promises to be a very special occasion not to be missed.

On the night of your child’s online learning celebration, we encourage you to gather your family around to view the celebration online together. This can then be followed by a family dinner to celebrate your child’s year in the ELC.

A Microsoft Teams link will be emailed to families in advance so that you can access your child’s learning celebration.
