Barbreck Update – Preparing for 2021

As the end of year draws closer, we at Barbreck are preparing for 2021 and for Christmas. Notwithstanding the challenges of 2020, it is valuable to reflect that we are more fortunate than most. I hope that you will join with our Barbreck community to support our Christmas initiative and acknowledge our teachers for 2021.

The class teachers for 2021 are as follows:

Year Teachers
Prep Miss Annie Taylor
1 Mrs Courtney O’Brien
2 Mrs Lola Ballis
3 Mrs Georgina Stride and Mrs Simone Schilte
4 Mrs Loretta Iacuone and Mr Tim Tainsh
5 Ms Kirrilly Wootton and Ms Fiona Wardlaw
6 Ms Sandra Ching and Mr Luke Russell

Christmas Toy Drive

After such a tumultuous year, it is more important than ever that we spread Christmas cheer. A number of schools are joining together for a Christmas Toy Drive Appeal for the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre. This centre provides food and material aid, support services, health care, legal aid and advocacy for the many of the world’s most needy people. The toy drive will provide Christmas cheer to those children already dealing with so much, many feeling as if they are lost and unknown. The gifts the girls donate will let the refugee children know that their new home of Australia welcomes them, is kind and that we care for them.

We encourage all of the Barbreck girls to purchase gifts for someone their own age – either a boy or a girl. This way we will ensure a good spread of gifts for all ages. We ask that gifts do not exceed $30, are new and unwrapped. Girls will place their gifts under the Christmas tree in the Junior School Reception. Please deliver all gifts by the end of November. I know the Barbreck community will support this great cause.

Year 6 Celebration Luncheon

Much planning is underway for the girls to have a wonderful celebration luncheon. Special thanks go to the Year 6 Representatives: Nicole Thomas, Annette Koco, Marnie Pringle and Liz Addison-Baker for all of the work they have done in organising the Year 6 booklet and end of Term Celebrations. We are wanting to make sure they have a fabulous end to their Junior School years.
