Barbreck Update – Happy Mothers’ Day

Wishing all of the special women in our lives – mums, grandmas, aunts, teachers and treasured friends a wonderful day. I hope that the family spoils you and displays their appreciation for all that you do for them.

Survey Results

Results from last week again demonstrated that most students are highly engaged with their learning; however, we are seeing a trend in the upper year levels that girls are turning off their cameras when in class. I am also hearing from some Year 6 parents that many of the girls are on their phones while in class. I encourage parents to be vigilant in ensuring girls are following the guidelines below for being online:

  • Being focused
  • Backgrounds muted
  • In school PE uniform
  • Phones away (we recommend parents hold these during lesson times)
  • Cameras on

These guidelines provide the best opportunities for learning to occur.

The survey also provided us with information about measures needed to ensure a safe return to school. Mostly parents wanted to see:

  • Temperature checks
  • Staggered starts and ends to the day
  • Staggered break times
  • Different recess areas
  • Flu vaccinations
  • Increased cleaning
  • Social distancing measure
  •  No sharing of equipment, surfaces
  •  No parents on site.

We are currently developing a plan for a return to school once decisions have been made by the State Government. We are appreciative of the information provided by parents which has assisted in planning for this safe return.

Assembly

We trust that you enjoyed our last two assemblies when we introduced segments which will become regular features of our assemblies:

  • Blue Ribbon Spirit
  • How to segment
  • Freaky facts
  • Message Boards
  • Virtual Tours
  • Library news and competitions
  • Music news and performances

We hope to connect girls with their friends across the Junior School by posting messages to the Junior School on the Message Board. They can also contribute to Freaky Facts, photographs for Blue Ribbon Spirit and through performances and competition entries. We hope there is something there for everyone!

For this week’s assembly, the captains have been hard at work preparing their segments. We hope that you enjoy them.
