Congratulations to Year 11 student, Lillian Lu who has become the Australian Under 18 Girls Chess Champion after recently competing in the 2020 Australian Junior Chess Championships.

Held during January on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Lillian finished first in the Girls Division and overcame fierce competition against 31 of Australia’s best junior female chess players.

Lillian’s outstanding performance in the Girls Division is highlighted by the fact that she recorded seven wins and a draw from her nine games.

We wish Lillian well in her endeavours to further develop her chess skills, as she continues on her journey towards becoming one of Australia’s best female chess players.
