The Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships were held at Perisher, New South Wales from Tuesday 3 September until Sunday 8 September. 

Twenty-one students from Year 1 through to Year 9 demonstrated their commitment to the Snowsports Program by travelling eight hours to compete at Perisher.  

Perisher put on an absolute show for our girls, with plenty of snow to run the Alpine, Snowboard, Slopestyle, and Cross Events on Front Rider, and Moguls and Cross-Country Events at Blue Cow, a short trip from Perisher via the Ski Tube. Our girls battled through gale-force winds and slushy spring skiing conditions with smiles on their faces and a can-do attitude.  

Our Barbreck girls finished fourth overall in the Female Primary School Overall Championships, a close 16 points behind first place and a massive 30 points ahead of the rest of the field. This is an incredible feat as they made their mark at this National event.  

Our Senior School girls finished seventh overall in a field of 24 schools in the Female Secondary School Overall Championships category. This is a marvellous achievement as we only had eight individuals from Senior School making their way from the Victorian mountains to represent St Catherine’s.  

The determination displayed by all St Catherine’s students from both the Junior and Senior Schools was nothing short of inspiring, as they displayed their skills and spirit of sportswomanship.

Our girls have managed an incredibly demanding season. Our Australian mountains provided us with challenging conditions for training and competition, with events every two weeks, limited snowfall, gale-force winds, sideways rain, and early mountain closures.  

It is astronomical what these girls have been able to achieve in such a short period of time. Now the season has come to an end, it was wonderful to celebrate all St Catherine’s Snowsports Students and their achievements at the Presentation Night held on Wednesday.  

Snowsports Jackets 

Our Snowsports Auxiliary has worked across this season fundraising for our new Snowsports jackets. These are a custom light blue Karbon Ski Jacket for our 2025 students. We have a minimum order requirement and would love to see as many girls as possible in pale blue on the slopes.
