Adjustment to St Catherine’s School Uniform

Dear Parents,
As you will be aware, at the commencement of this term I announced that for a trial period, students would not be required to wear a tie with the winter School uniform. It is clear to me and others that this decision has contributed to a deterioration in the wearing of the School uniform. Over the last few weeks, it has been increasingly noticeable that our uniform is being worn in a manner not in accordance with our strong traditions and Values. I have received feedback from a number of people in our community who share this view.
At a Senior School Assembly this afternoon, I informed our students that from Monday 16 September, all students will again be required to wear the School tie with their full winter uniform. Staff will be monitoring uniforms very closely next week and we will be holding students to a high level of accountability. We will be expecting all students to wear their uniform in an exemplary manner. Breaches of our expectations will include actions such as detentions after school, other sanctions and possibly being sent home to obtain the correct uniform.
The School Record Book outlines the expectations of the St Catherine’s School Uniform. For your reference, I include them here.
St Catherine’s is a proud school with a strong history, and it is crucial that all students reflect these high standards in their actions, conduct and appearance, to uphold the reputation of our School. Our Values and traditions are represented by our students, and we want to ensure that these beliefs continue.
I thank you for your support in assisting the School in endorsing our uniform standards, which are such an intrinsic part of our School culture.
