Students Excel in United Nations Mock Debate

Congratulations to Year 11 students Celina Wang and Weng In (Caris) Ho who have progressed to the Victorian Semi-finals of the Evatt UN Youth Competition.

This is the third year running that St Catherine’s has had a team in the semi-finals. Last year Olivia Hargrave and Rhea Werner reached the National Finals.

The Competition takes place at the University of Melbourne involving teams of two students debating and negotiating as representatives of one of the 15 members of the United Nations Security Council in proposing and amending mock Security Council resolutions.

The Competition requires students to be very knowledgeable about world affairs, agile, and capable in their public speaking, debating, and negotiation skills.
