District Athletics
On Wednesday 3 September, our St Catherine’s Athletics Team headed to Duncan McKinnon Reserve for the SSV Armadale District Athletics Carnival. After weeks of dedicated training throughout the term, the excitement was palpable as the girls gathered at the bus, eager to compete, achieve personal bests, and represent their school with pride.
Our Athletics Captains, Lola Parker and Arabella Lutz, set the tone for the day with an energising group warm-up and an inspiring pep talk. The program began with the endurance events, the 800m and 1500m, while our talented field event athletes made their way to their respective arenas.
From our youngest competitor, Bella Tarrant, through to our experienced Year 6 leaders, every student gave their absolute best – running, jumping, and throwing with determination. The team’s effort and depth shone across all events, culminating in an impressive 4th place overall and 2nd place in the population category.
Special congratulations go to:
- Lola Parker – qualifying for the Beachside Division Athletics Carnival in the 12/13 Year Old 200m and Hurdles.
- Sienna Xu – qualifying in the 11 Year Old Triple Jump.
We are so proud of all our athletes and can’t wait to follow Lola and Sienna as they take the next step at the Division Carnival next term.
A heartfelt thank you to our supportive parents who came along to cheer from the sidelines, and to our Head of Athletics, Nana Owusu-Afriyie, whose guidance and commitment have been invaluable throughout the season.
