GSV Weekly Sport Update
- Netball – The club is in full swing! Our girls are showing determination and teamwork every week. We are working hard to develop our coaches and ensure everyone leaves the court with feedback and encouragement.
- Athletics – On 12 August, St Catherine’s competed at the 2025 GSV Preliminary A Track and Field Championship at Lakeside. With a team of 70 girls across 164 events, we achieved:
Juniors – 4th place
Intermediates – 8th place
Seniors – 6th place
Overall – 6th place
Special Highlight – 2nd place in the School Population Trophy, recognising outstanding performance per athlete.
St Catherine’s is proud to celebrate the selection of Violetta Capanni and Camille Brownjohn in this Term’s GSV Representative Teams. Violetta showcased her talent on the hockey field, while Camille brought her skill and determination to the netball court. Their selection is a testament to the hard work, commitment, and passion they show week after week, and it highlights the strength of St Cath’s athletes across a range of sports. Congratulations to both girls on this outstanding achievement – a wonderful reflection of our school community on the GSV stage.

Friday Huddle: Parents & Community
Recent Friday Huddles were full of energy and great conversation:
- Sophia (parent of Tania (Year 8)) loves the variety of sport and is especially enjoying water polo.
- Harvey (parent of Eliza (Year 2) & Ari (Prep)) and Hamish & Pratima (parents of Asha (Prep)) had an engaging discussion around niche sports such as polo, martial arts, and equestrian.
- Vincci (parent of Gladys (Year 11) & Kayley (Year 5)) and Sabrina (parent of Mia (Year 5) & Olga (Year 9)) shared their fascination for sport. Vincci, inspired by her love of cross-country running, has started running weekly herself! We also explored ideas for captaincy structures across sports.
From the Director of Sport
One of the things that makes St Cath’s sport so special is the way our Old Girls continue to give back to the program long after they’ve graduated. Their connection to the school, their understanding of our culture, and their passion for helping the next generation are truly invaluable.
This week, I want to highlight the outstanding work of Zara Peele (’23), with her excellent contributions to the Badminton team prepare for competition. Zara’s adaptability, skill, and willingness to jump into any sport at a moment’s notice is an inspiration to our girls – thank you, Zara!
It was also a pleasure to see Celia Cody (’19) sharing her expertise on the slopes, guiding our young skiers through the Cross-Country events at the Victorian Interschools at Mt Buller over the weekend. Her knowledge and calm leadership shone through, helping our girls navigate challenging conditions and enjoy the experience.
We are proud of all our Old Girls who return to coach – you play a vital role in the life of St Cath’s sport, and we hope to see even more of our students come back to share their skills and stories in the future.
