It has been an exciting and busy week at Barbreck with our students taking part in a number of whole School events.

Our School spirit soared to new heights as students from all Houses came together for a spectacular House Aerobics event. The enthusiasm was contagious as each House showcased their creativity and energy through synchronised routines. It was not just about fitness either, it was an incredible display of teamwork, coordination, and, most importantly, fun!

Empowerment and strength took centre stage in the Iron Girl Competitions also held this week. Our young athletes in Years 2, 4, and 6 demonstrated perseverance, grit, and a healthy dose of friendly competition. The whole School watched the excitement and cheered on all the participants. Congratulations to all the girls who took part and a special congratulations to our three winners, Camilla (Millie) Wilkins (Year 2), Lola Parker (Year 4), and Carys Dreaver (Year 6). Every participant left with a sense of accomplishment and pride.

Our aquatic stars made waves in the pool during the District Water Polo Competition. The level of sportswomanship and camaraderie displayed by our students was truly commendable. Congratulations to all the teams for their dedication, skill, and teamwork that made this event a splashing success with St Catherine’s finishing in 2nd Place. Thank you to Mr Andrew Gold and Mr Michael McNeill for coaching the girls and supporting them on the day.

The week finished with a wonderful fundraising event, organised by our Year 6 students and teachers. The funds raised from the Special Sausage Sizzle Lunch will go towards a special Year 6 gift to the School. We extend our gratitude to all the families for your support and generosity.

Next week, we look forward to the Junior School Music Concert where we will celebrate the dedication and hard work of our young musicians and celebrate the joy of music.

Navigating Change Together

As the school year comes to an end, our students often find themselves facing new challenges, transitions, and experiences. These changes, whether big or small, can impact their wellbeing. As parents, your support is crucial in helping your child navigate these shifts successfully.

Open Communication

Encourage open and honest communication with your child. Create a safe space where they feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and feelings. Ask open-ended questions about their day, their friendships, and their concerns. By actively listening, you show them that their experiences and emotions are valid.

Foster a Growth Mindset

Teach your child that challenges are opportunities for growth. Encourage a positive attitude towards change by emphasising the learning process rather than focusing solely on outcomes. Celebrate their efforts and persistence, reinforcing the idea that learning is a journey with ups and downs.

Be a Role Model

Children often learn by example. Demonstrate healthy coping mechanisms and resilience in the face of change. Share your own experiences of overcoming challenges and highlight the importance of adaptability. Your positive attitude can inspire and reassure your child.

Stay Informed

Keep yourself informed about any changes and events happening at School, whether it is a new teacher, a change in classroom, or upcoming events. Knowledge is power, and being aware of what is happening allows you to better support your child through those changes.

Encourage Peer Connections

Help your child build and maintain positive relationships with their peers. Friends can provide a strong support system during times of change. Encourage playdates, group activities, and social interactions that foster a sense of belonging.

Remember, change is a natural part of life, and helping your child develop resilience and adaptability will serve them well in the future. As parents, you play a vital role in shaping your daughter’s perspective on change and transitions. Your support and guidance lay the foundation for a resilient and confident approach to the future.

By working together, we create an environment where our students feel supported and empowered to face the ever-changing world around them.
