Joy, Laughter and Inspiration Through Performance

“Musicals have the extraordinary ability to transport us to different worlds, touch our hearts, and ignite our spirits with the universal language of music and storytelling. It’s a powerful experience that can bring people together, evoke emotions, and create lifelong memories.” – Unknown

As one of the Directors of our recent Years 5 and 6 production of Seussical JR. I am filled with a sense of pride and gratitude for the incredible journey we embarked on together. From auditions to the final bow, every moment of this musical was a testament to the power of teamwork, dedication, and creativity.

Seussical JR. offered a unique opportunity to bring Dr. Seuss’s whimsical world to life on stage. It was a challenging endeavour, but the cast and crew embraced the challenge with open arms. We witnessed the growth and transformation of everyone involved in the production.

The Years 5 and 6 cast members deserve special recognition for their remarkable performances. Their commitment was exemplary as they portrayed the beloved Dr. Seuss characters. We saw actors gain confidence in their abilities, develop their stage presence, and embrace the magic of theatre. The camaraderie and support that emerged within the cast was truly heart-warming. The energy and enthusiasm they brought to the stage was infectious, captivating the audience from start to finish. It was a joy to see their hard work and passion translate into such entertaining performances.

Seussical JR. not only showcased the talent and creativity of our students but also served as a platform for important life lessons. Through this production, the girls learned the value of teamwork, dedication, and perseverance. They discovered the power of storytelling and the ability to inspire and captivate an audience. The memories created and the skills developed will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on each participant’s life.

Some of our Year 5s reflected on their Seussical JR. journey below:

Audrey Crosbie-Goold: I liked working with everyone in Years 5 and 6 because I got to know some of the Year 6s more. It was a little bit stressful when it came to quick changes, but there were people there to help. I loved playing Vlad Vladikoff, and taking on his attitude. It was a great experience!

Gemma Jurcevic: I really enjoyed learning and rehearsing all the dances. I was a ‘Who’ in ‘Whoville’ and I liked taking on this character and having a break from being myself. It was a fun experience!

Imogen Brownjohn: Performing in the role of Mayzie was both exciting and challenging because I had to sing solo. I found that I really enjoyed the whole experience and can’t wait to be in another production one day.

Samara Grinsell: I really enjoyed working with the whole team of Years 5 and 6 students. The role of Jojo was so much fun. It was a challenge to learn all the lines and songs. It was a great experience and I hope to perform in a production again.

Sophia West: I loved acting and performing as a Wickersham Brother. It was great to get inside the character’s head and think about how they would react in a situation, I was no longer myself when I was on stage. Seussical JR. was exciting and a great experience!

Amelie Lane: It was really fun and challenging learning the dances and performing them to an audience. We had to work as a team to accomplish it and to perform with confidence. Overall, it was a great experience to perform with my friends.

Seussical JR. was a transformative experience for all involved. From the cast’s outstanding performances to the crew’s unwavering support, this production brought joy, laughter, and inspiration to our community.
