Barbreck Writers’ Club

We have had a wonderful start to this year’s Writers’ Club. We have seen the return of many girls that attended last year and welcomed lots of new girls from Year 5.

Every week, there is a wonderful atmosphere and energy as the girls get to explore a range of writing activities that can be different to the ones they experience in class.

Each girl thoroughly enjoys the opportunity to embrace their own personal writing style as they create engaging and imaginative pieces.

In every session, the girls are encouraged to use various writing skills to express their thoughts and ideas, which helps them to experiment with, and extend their knowledge of, language devices learnt in class.

In the first session this year, the girls worked together on creating a motto and overview of Writers’ Club and what it means to them. Some of the other writing tasks undertaken in Term 1 have been writing narratives, producing informative texts on trailblazing women, designing persuasive travel brochures, and writing poems inspired by colours.

The girls have shared that they really enjoy the range of writing activities they do, as well as being able to work with others on the creative process of drafting.

Some of the writing activities the girls have enjoyed the most have been composing stories based on short videos they have seen and creating poems. They really like to share what they have written with others.

We look forward to sharing some of the girls’ work in future updates.

Writers’ Club is held every Wednesday after school from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.
