Celebrating our Barbreck Community

Each year I connect with parents of girls new to our Junior School to see how their daughters and their family are settling into life at Barbreck. These chats always provide wonderful feedback on our Transition Program and the first few weeks of school.

Our Transition Program focuses on our youngest girls joining us from the Early Learning Centre and girls arriving from other schools or locations across the Year levels. The Program provides opportunities for the girls to visit Barbreck and join in classroom activities, and experience some of the specialist subjects on offer.

My conversations with new parents are a wonderful opportunity to get to know our new families and receive feedback on Babreck and our Transition Program. Some of the feedback from new families is provided below.

Year 2 Parent

“It’s a fantastic school – she loves it! She has a great teacher and has taken on Chess, STEM Club, Tennis, Aussies Aths and Strings with Mrs Cook. She practises her music every day!”

Year 3 Parent

“She is happy every day and finds the teachers to be very caring.”

Year 3 Parent

“She is settling in well and has signed up for a number of activities. She is still finding her way around and starting to make new friends.”

Year 5 Parent

“She certainly fits in well and is loving school. She has made new friends and comes home every day saying she loves school. She is now looking to take on learning an instrument.”

Teddy Bear’s Picnic

Our much-loved Teddy Bears Picnic, held yesterday afternoon on our Village Green, provided another wonderful occasion to celebrate our Barbreck and ELC children.

The teddy bears on display were dressed as a range of different movie characters from Batman to Elsa from Frozen. You could see the enthusiasm of the children as they modelled their teddy bears during the Teddy Bears Costume Parade. Well done to all the boys and girls, and the parents behind the scenes, we have so much creativity in Barbreck!

Our Photographic Competition for our Years 5 and 6 girls featured teddy bears in photographs or chroma key photography, showcasing the wonderful graphic design creativity of the girls.

Thanks must go to our amazing PFA who organised the community sausage sizzles, Greek chicken rolls, Likt gelato and a range of other products for sale during the afternoon. There is so much work that goes on behind the scenes in organising these events. Thank you to all involved. Our wonderful community reaped the benefits of your creativity and hard work.

Mary Davis Café News

Commencing next week, a range of new food choices will be added to the Mary Davis Café menu on Flexischools, with sausage rolls being one of the new additions!

We ask all parents of girls ordering food via the Flexischools App to ensure sufficient funds are available in the account. This avoids disappointment when girls try to purchase items, especially after morning training.

Please note that while you may have topped up your Flexischool account there can be a delay of several hours for the funds to transfer. Café staff will never let girls with insufficient funds go hungry before school, however the girls may not receive their full order.

Flexischools is an online payment app that operates separately from the Café and the School. We ask for your cooperation in making this process work well for our girls.
