Prep 2020 Transition and Orientation Program

The commencement of school is certainly an exciting time in a young child’s life. The transition for many of our Early Learning Centre (ELC) learners into Prep is made smoother by the existing connections that the children have with the Junior School at St Catherine’s. Our weekly visits to the Library in addition to the Four Leaf Clover Program help the children to build connections with the Junior School community and facilities.

Initiatives like the Four Leaf Clover Program helps the children in the Early Learning Centre to build connections with the Junior School community.

A positive and smooth transition into the school environment ensures a sense of confidence, comfort and security. For this reason, a carefully considered and arranged Prep transition and orientation program is offered to our 4 year-old learners.

On Wednesday 4 September and Wednesday 11 September, the ELC students attending Prep at St Catherine’s in 2020 will visit the Prep classroom to experience this learning environment first hand.

A positive and smooth transition into the school environment ensures a sense of confidence, comfort and security.

On Wednesday 18 September, the current Prep students will visit the Banksia and Wattle Rooms to form a panel of experts for the ELC children to ask questions about school life and what they can expect when they go to Prep next year.

In addition to this program, the girls attending Prep at St Catherine’s in 2020 will participate in a further orientation and transition program throughout Term 4.

Welcoming Our New Learners to St Catherine’s Early Learning Centre

A morning tea was recently held to welcome our 2020 learners and their families to St Catherine’s. This is the first step in the children’s orientation and transition program prior to their commencement in the ELC in 2020. There was much excitement as the children and parents met one another for the first time and the children busily engaged with the play experiences on offer. The children now excitedly await the opportunity to visit their new classrooms later in the year.
