Camping and Mapping in the Blue Gum Room

The Blue Gum children returned from the semester break eager to engage in this imaginative play area again, with items such as Australian animal puppets, sleeping bags, books, outdoor cooking utensils and binoculars. The children shared their experiences of looking at maps to orientate themselves around a camp site. To extend the children’s interest, they were given the opportunity to create their own maps using white card, rulers and black markers.
The children gathered to share some of their map designs and discussed the possibility of creating one large map together. We look forward to embarking on this collaborative project in the weeks to come.
