Winter Holiday Swimming Program

This winter, we invite all squad swimmers to enter the warmth of the Marigold Southey Sports and Aquatic Centre for our Winter Holiday Program Intensive.

The holiday intensives are some of the best weeks of swimming to happen all year. Swimmers are visibly stronger and more accomplished by the end of their holiday training, which is always a pleasure to observe.

The morning starts with a 15-20 minutes dryland activation then followed by a swim from 9.00am-11.00am with swimmers being able to select their training duration if initially feeling the 2hr swim may be too long.

Swimmers follow a ‘theme’ for each week of the holiday intensive, with the aim for the swimmer to not only be stronger in the water, but to have learnt something from their week around the pool. Past themes have been; Eating Like a Swimmer, Recovery Strategies, Flexibility and Range of Motion, Race Day Process, as well as many more.

The 2017 Winter Intensive theme is Foundations. Swimmers will be working to consolidate the Foundations of their swimming and skills to further develop their all-round ability in the pool. The Winter Holiday Intensive will be particularly valuable for those swimmers that enrol for both weeks.
