Reading in Year 4   

Reading is not just a skill, it is a gateway to endless adventures and knowledge!   

This year, our Year 4 students have delved deep into the world of books, exploring both fiction and nonfiction texts. We have discovered how these two types of texts can tell us about the same subject in different ways. While non-fiction gives us facts and information, fiction lets us explore stories and see the world through different characters’ eyes. This has helped us understand the importance of identifying the point of view in any story, seeing how different characters feel, and understanding their perspectives.   

Book Week 2024 was a highlight of our term! Students celebrated by dressing up as their favourite book characters, really bringing these stories to life in our classrooms. It was a fantastic opportunity to share our love for reading and discover new books and characters from our classmates. The week reminded us that reading is fun and exciting.
