World Rowing Champs Update

Provided below, for our avid St Catherine’s Rowing community of supporters is an update on the remarkable achievements of our St Catherine’s representatives at the World Senior, U23 and U19 World Rowing Championships held in St Catherine, Canada.   

U23 Women’s Double Sculls (U23W2x) 

Romy Cantwell (’20) stroke seat, racing in the U23W2x.  

Photo finish with USA in the Heat and missed out by 0.01 seconds but still qualified for the Repechage. 

Racing A Final saw Australia place sixth.   

U23 Women’s Eight (U23W8+) 

Summer Balla-Kellett (’22) coxswain and Sarah Marriot (’22) sixth seat both racing in the U23W8+.  

Fun fact: racing with Danica Free whose father, Duncan Free, won an Olympic Gold medal in the Beijing Olympics. 

Racing A Final saw Australia place fourth.  

 U19 Women’s Coxed Four (U19W4+) 

Scarlett Pringle, current Year 12, coxswain is racing in the U19W4+. 

Placed fourth in the Preliminary final only three seconds off the medals.

Australian Senior, U23 and U19 Team Doctor 

Dr Carlee Van Dyke (’03) is the Team Doctor supporting the athletes at the World Championship event.   

Womens U23 8+ Photo Finish

Have a look at how close the U23W8+ finish was in the attached photo. Identical times but separated by the narrowest of margins. Both crews only 1.5 seconds off the world’s best time so expect some exciting racing in the finals.
